Definition

Stands for “real simple syndication”, an XML document format that describes episodic or periodically published content. Software that reads RSS files (“feed readers” or “RSS aggregators”) “subscribe” to the syndicated content by referencing these files and periodically checking for new entries. They interpret the information in the RSS file and present newly published items to the user.
